Phreik Chat Profiles have 4 sections:
1)Registration Information
2)Profile Information
3)Preferences
4)Avatar Control Panel
Registration Information:
Commonly used to change your password. If you ever feel that your password information is at risk, just go to the home page and click 'My Profile'. Enter your current password, then enter a new password twice. After you do this, go to the very bottom of the profile page and click 'Submit'.
Profile Information
Here, you can choose to reveal your messenger address (AIM, MSN, YAHOO or ICQ). You can reveal your website address if you have one handy. The rest of the options in this section are self expanatory. A Signature is a block of text that will show up at the Bottom of any post you make in the Phreik Chat Forum. The link to the Forum is located at the top right of allmost every page in Phreik chat. If you choose to participate in the Forum, you will have to register with the forum.
Be carefull about the information that you post in your Profile Information section. The information you put in this section WILL be visible to anyone who chooses to view your profile. Keep from using your real name, address, exactly where you work etc... Common sense should be used when altering your Profile Information.
Preferences
The Preferences allways come selected by default by Phreik Chat with your privacy in mind. If you want to change some of these, feel free to do so. Most Profiles that I see do not have an email address visible because most people do not want it to be visible. By default, 'no' is selected upon registration of your Phreik Account. Online Status: Do you want to be searchable? If not, select 'yes' for this option.
Allways notify me of replies: If you start a topic in the Phreik Chat Forum and want to know if someone wrote a reply, select 'yes' for this option.
Notify on new Private Message: When someone views your Profile, they can send you a private message. Select 'yes' for this option if you want to be notified of any new Private Messages.
Popup Window on new Private Message: Select 'yes' here if you would like a new window to 'pop' up when someone writes you a new message.
Allways attach my signature: This option is for use in Forums. If you gave yourself a signature in 'Profile Information', then you'll want to select 'yes' here so that it will be attached to all of your posts.
Allways allow BBCode: This is the type of formatting used in Forums. If you do not have 'yes' selected for this option, you will not get to customize the text that you enter when posting in a Forum. BBCode is similar to the editing tools that you use in your email account when you compose new mail.
Allways allow HTML: This option is usually set to 'no' by default by Phreik Chat. If you have web page design and would like to use HTML in your posts, then select 'yes' in this option to do so.
Allways enable Smileys: This is usually set to 'yes'. If you do not want smiles in your posts, then select 'no'.
Board Language: Obvious
Board Style: You can choose one of these styles to alter the color shemes that you see in chat and in the Forum.
Time Zone and Date Format: Obvious
Avatar Control Panel
Show them what you look like! Here, you can take a photo of you and make it available for viewing in your Profile. The options in this section are pretty basic. If you have a photo of yourself and want to upload it to your profile, you do have to make sure that it is no larger than 500 x 500 pixels and the file size can't be larger than 59 kb. If you find that your photo is too large, you can open windows paint and resize your photo there. Also, saving your photo in the 'jpeg' format will reduze the file size.
You can upload a photo from another link. (If you have MySpace and have photos there, put the address of the photo in here to copie it to your profile)
You can link to an off-site Avatar. Although, I've never used this option and am not sure if it will actually show the image in the profile, or just show a Link to the image.
And, there is allways the Avatar Library at the bottom if you can't seem to get your own photo into the Profile.
This completes the link: My Profile.
Remember, allways go to the bottom of the page and click 'Submit' after you makes changes to your Profile! If you don't, the changes will not update.
And of course, here is the link for the My Profile page in Phreik Chat:
